SHORT FICTION/LIVE ACTION

Recipients of the Tirana International Film Festival Best Short Film will be eligible for consideration in the Live Action Short Film category of the Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy Rules.

The official films selected in this category are nominated for the Best Short Film, that will be eligible for consideration in the European Film Awards 2024.

All films in competition must be an Albanian premiere.

ANIMATION

STUDENT FILMS

Tirana International Film Festival has received the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award as an Oscar qualifying for the Student Academy Awards (SAA).

Are accepted submissions from International Film School Competition Categories include Animation, Documentary, and Narrative short films, that not exceed thirty (30) minutes in length.

Eligible students can submit one film to the Student Academy Awards if that film meets all other eligibility criteria and has been selected for screening in competition at three film festivals recognized by the SAAs over the last two years. Entries of documentary films are invited to take part in competition in all formats of video and digital. All topics, style and production technologies can be submitted.
Competition in Short Documentary must not exceed sixty (60') minutes in length.

Only films in the Albanian language are eligible for this section (wether made in or outside Albania). There are no entry fees for films made in the Albanian language.
