INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

Kaohsiung Film Festival International Short Film Competition (Taiwan) is dedicated to discovering short films with creative styles and unique perspectives, to encourage new filmmaking talents and also to stimulate cultural exchanges.

Opening submissions: April 1, 2023
Final deadline: May 31, 2023 Free
Deadline: June 12, 2023 Free
Notification of results: August 31, 2023

Preview format:
-Uploaded file (1 stamp)

Requirements:
1) Films completed after: June 16th, 2022
2) Maximum duration: 25 minutes(Including Credits)
3) Country of production: All countries except Taiwan
4) Screening format: DCP (highly preferred) , MOV ProRes422HQ (preferred) or H.264; HD (1920x1080) or 2K (1998x1080/ 2048x858)
5) Accepted genres: All genres
6) No re-entry: Films already submitted to previous editions will not be accepted.
7) No works-in-progress: Works-in-progress by submission deadline (May 31st, 2023) will not be accepted.
8) Subtitle requirements for preview screener: If the original language in the film is Chinese or English, the preview screener does not need to be subtitled. If the dialogue is not in Chinese or English, please provide a screener embedded with Chinese or English subtitles.
9) Asian New Wave: To be eligible for Asian New Wave Award, the film should be directed by Asian nationality holders or produced mainly in Asian countries. (Russia and Belarus excluded)

The full list of nominated films will be announced on the Festival’s official site (www.kff.tw) no later than August 31st, 2023. Nominated filmmakers will be notified via email.
