INTERNATIONAL SHORTS COMPETITION

A competitive section for international short films of all genres. No premiere requirements. Main award: SVT Kortfilm International Award – a buying offer from SVT Sveriges Television (Swedish Television) and a wooden sculpture/piece of art created by regional artist Cecilia Tjärnberg.


Opening submissions: November 22, 2021
Earlybird deadline: January 28, 2022 5 EUR
Regular deadline: February 28, 2022 9 EUR
Final deadline: March 28, 2022 12 EUR
Notification of results: August 15, 2022


Preview format:

Requirements:
1) Films completed after: 2021-01-01
2) Maximum duration: 30
3) Country of production: Any country
4) Screening format: DCP
5) Accepted genres: All genres

Other criteria:
6) Subtitles: If the submitted film contains non-English dialogue the submission and screening copy must be subtitled in English.


Swedish filmmakers – except for those eligible for Norrland Shorts Competition – are welcome to submit to this section (or to Next Europe Competition if the film is a fiction film longer than 20 min).

Filmmakers with European fiction films between 20–30 min can choose whether to submit to Next Europe Competition or International Shorts Competition – but no need for double submissions since they will be considered for both competitions anyway.





NEXT EUROPE COMPETITION

A competitive section for mid-length and feature films from Europe. 20–100 min. Fiction films (live action/animation/experimental). Films may not have been theatrically released in Sweden or broadcast on Swedish TV. International jury. Main award: Stone City Award. The winning director gets 10 000 SEK in cash sponsored by Film Västernorrland –– and a wooden sculpture/piece of art created by regional artist Cecilia Tjärnberg.


Opening submissions: November 22, 2021

Regular deadline: February 28, 2022 9 EUR
Final deadline: March 28, 2022 12 EUR
Notification of results: August 19, 2022

3) Country of production: European countries
4) Screening format: DCP
5) Accepted genres: Fiction (live action/animation/experimental)

Other criteria:
6) Subtitles: If the submitted film contains non-English dialogue the submission and screening copy must be subtitled in English.


European fiction films between 20–30 min may either be submitted to Next Europe Competition or International Shorts Competition – but no need for double submissions since they will be considered for both competitions anyway.





NORRLAND SHORTS COMPETITION

A competitive section for short films of all genres from the northern part of Sweden (Gävleborg, Västernorrland, Västerbotten, Jämtland, Norrbotten). No premiere requirements. International jury. Main award: Stone City Award – 25 000 SEK in cash sponsored by Film i Västerbotten, Film Västernorrland, Filmpool Jämtland Härjedalen, Filmpool Nord and Region Gävleborg, and a wooden sculpture/piece of art created by regional artist Cecilia Tjärnberg.


Opening submissions: November 22, 2021
Final deadline: April 28, 2022 Free
Notification of results: August 15, 2022

Short films from the rest of Sweden can be submitted to International Shorts Competition or if over 20 min and fiction to Next Europe Competition.





INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FILMS COMPETITION

A competitive section for international children's films of all genres. Target audience: 3-7 years old. No premiere requirements. International jury. Main award: Pija Lindenbaum Award – 10 000 SEK in cash sponsored by Film Västernorrland, and a wooden sculpture/piece of art created by regional artist Cecilia Tjärnberg.


Opening submissions: November 22, 2021
Free earlybird deadline: January 28, 2022 Free
Regular deadline: February 28, 2022 5 EUR
Final deadline: March 28, 2022 9 EUR
