Curtocircuíto – International Film Festival in Santiago de Compostela, started in 2003 and was an initiative created by the City Council, with the intention of promoting filmmaking.
Seventeen editions later, Curtocircuíto has reached major national standing, working in direct contact with other European festivals. Short films from around the world compete within the Official Competition, and the Parallel Programmes provide a wide variety of lengths and formats, keeping the contemporary and the risk as references. Curtocircuíto is a festival committed to its time, which supports creators, training and integration of citizenship within it. More than being a film festival, with its parallel activities and concerts, Curtocircuíto is a point of entertainment and cultural meeting.
The in-competition Official Section is divided into the following subsections:
RADAR: Works of any genre and nationality. A varied selection of titles that set trends at a global level, whether in fiction or animation or the documentary genre. Experienced film- makers share this space with up-and-coming directors: short films that arrive at Curtocircuíto backed by multiple awards received in international festivals, and new works that Curtocircuíto wishes to promote.
EXPLORA: Works of any genre and nationality. A section that focuses on the search for new filmmaking signatures. Pieces that can hardly be catalogued in specific genres, and that dilute the traditional idea of cinema by exploring innovative avenues that are close to video art, documentary or avant-garde cinema.
Also:
PLANET GZ: host Galician works in competition. It is understood that Galician production wherein: the director is Galician or have been living in Galicia for more than two years; that is produced by a Galician company or that whose content expresses a manifest vocation for Galicia.
PENÍNSULAS: Works of any genre and just Spanish nationality. A section that focuses on the spanish avantgarde filmmaking.
The participation of a work in one section or another, in its case, will be a decision of the Organisation, regardless of the type of registration of such work.!

Requirements:
1) Films completed after: January 1st, 2023
2) Maximum duration: 95 minutes
3) Country of production: All countries
4) Screening format: .mov (resolution: 1920 × 1080 or 1280 × 720, max. bitrate 20,000 Kbps, Audio AAC), .mp4 (codec H.264, resolution: 1920 × 1080 or 1280 × 720, max. bitrate 20,000 Kbps, Audio AAC), DCP
5) Accepted genres: All genres
Other criteria:
6) No re-entry: Films previously submitted to the festival cannot be submitted again.
7) Languages and subtitles: For the registration and viewing of short films in languages other than Galician and Spanish, it is mandatory for these films to be at least subtitled in English or one of the aforementioned two languages.
8) Commercial works: Commercial or advertising films will not be considered eligible.
