IV RIOM SCIENTIFIC INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

TThe Riom Scientific International Short Film Festival is organized by the association Science-Toi ! with the support of the City of Riom, the agglomeration community Riom, Limagne et Volcans (RLV) and the Departmental Council of Puy-de-Dôme as well as other public and private partners such as the Michelin Foundation and EDF Auvergne,


The films presented must be related to science and in line with the objectives of the Festival:

- To make people discover Science
- Explain science with messages that are accessible to all audiences
- To give an image of science that allows debate and questioning.
- Engage in a playful, creative, and artistic way with the world of science.
- Inspire dreaming, awaken curiosity, amaze, and evoke emotions.
- Enrich reflections around Planet Earth (astronomy, climatology, biology, geology, ecology...).
- Raise awareness of the major challenges facing our planet (examples: the importance of decarbonizing our activities to limit their climate impact, the necessity of preserving natural resources and biodiversity as key elements of our future).

The Festival also aims to boost culture in the Riom, Limagne et Volcans (RLV) agglomeration community.

A young audiences session will be proposed whit a selection of presented films.

Festival Prizes:

The symbolic sculpture: "The short film in the genes", a work by José Merino, will be a reward for the first prizes. This artwork represents a DNA molecule bearing a filmstrip.

First Prize of the Festival Jury: Sculpture + Diploma.
Second Prize of the Festival Jury: Diploma.
First Audience Prize. General sessions: Sculpture + Diploma.
Second Audience Prize. General sessions: Diploma.
First Audience Prize. Youth Session: Sculpture + Diploma.
Second Audience Prize. Youth session: Diploma.




The winning films will be screened at a prize-giving ceremony on Saturday 23 November 2024.

The filmmakers present will receive their sculpture. It is planned to send the sculpture by parcel post to directors who will not be present in Riom.


Opening submissions: May 10, 2024
Final deadline: July 15, 2024 Free
Notification of results: September 15, 2024

3) Country of production: All countries
4) Screening format: MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV, DCP
5) Accepted genres: All genres


The non french shortlisted films must have french subtitles.
