III RIOM SCIENTIFIC SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

The Riom Scientific Short Film Festival is organized by the association Science-Toi ! with the support of the City of Riom, the agglomeration community Riom, Limagne et Volcans (RLV) and the Departmental Council of Puy-de-Dôme as well as other public and private partners such as the Michelin Foundation and EDF Auvergne,

The films presented must be related to science and in line with the objectives of the Festival:

- To make people discover and love Science, to make it beautiful.
- Explain science with messages that are accessible to all audiences
- To give a positive image of science
- To interest people in the world of science in a playful, creative and artistic way.
- To make people dream, to awaken their curiosity, to amaze them and to arouse their emotions
- Enriching reflections on Planet Earth (astronomy, climatology, biology, geology, ecology...)
- To raise awareness of the major challenges facing our planet (e.g. the importance of decarbonising our activities to limit their impact on the climate, the need to preserve natural resources and biodiversity as key elements of our future)

The Festival also aims to boost culture in the Riom, Limagne et Volcans (RLV) agglomeration community.

A young audiences session will be proposed whit a selection of presented films.

Festival Prizes:

The symbolic sculpture: "The short film in the genes", a work by José Merino, will be a reward for the first prizes. This artwork represents a DNA molecule bearing a filmstrip.

First Prize of the Festival Jury: Sculpture + €500 + Diploma.
Second Prize of the Festival Jury: €250 + Diploma.
First Audience Prize. General sessions: Sculpture + €500 + Diploma.
Second Audience Prize. General sessions: €250 + Diploma.
First Audience Prize. Youth Session: Sculpture + €500 + Diploma.
Second Audience Prize. Youth session: €250 + Diploma.

Opening submissions: May 15, 2023
Final deadline: July 15, 2023 Free
Notification of results: September 15, 2023

4) Screening format: MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV, DCP
5) Accepted genres: All

Other criteria:
6) subtitles: Films in a language other than French must be submitted with French subtitles
