INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
|
The INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION is the Festival’s centrepiece, presenting
artistic animated films of the previous twelve months.
Prizes: Grand Prix, Lotte Reiniger Promotion Award for Animated Film, SWR Audience Award

Requirements: 1) Films completed after: October 2021 2) Maximum duration: 30 minutes 3) Country of production: All countries 4) Screening format: DCP, Only in exceptional cases: MOV(ProRes); MP4(h264) 5) Accepted genres: Any animated film, including computer animations and combinations of live action and animation
Other criteria:
6) Subtitles: English subtitles must be burnt-in in videotrack.

Important: Student films and graduation films may not be submitted directly to the INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION and must be submitted to the YOUNG ANIMATION competition.
Films submitted to the INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION may compete in the TRICK FOR KIDS competition or in the TRICKSTAR NATURE AWARD competition.

YOUNG ANIMATION
|
The YOUNG ANIMATION competition presents the best films by students at
international film, art and media schools and universities.
Prizes: Award for the best student film, FANtastic Award - Prize for the best animation talent

Important: Films submitted to the YOUNG ANIMATION competition may compete in the TRICK FOR KIDS competition, the TRICKSTAR NATURE AWARD competition or the INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION (Lotte Reiniger Award).

TRICKS FOR KIDS
|
The TRICKS FOR KIDS competition presents entertaining, outstanding animated films and series for children.
Prizes: Award for the best animated children´s short film, Tricks for Kids Audience Award

Animated short films and series for children (max. one episode each) can be entered in the children’s film competition TRICKS FOR KIDS. Series may be submitted subject to the condition that the episode tells self-contained stories or part stories. One entry form has to be completed for each episode.
Please submit student films and graduation films to the YOUNG ANIMATION competition.
Important: Films submitted to the TRICKS FOR KIDS competition may be considered for the TRICKSTAR NATURE AWARD competition.

TRICKSTAR NATURE AWARD
|
Award for the best animated short film addressing the issues of climate protection, biodiversity, the environment and sustainability.
|

ANIMOVIE AWARD
|
Award for the best animated feature film.

Other criteria:
6) Subtitles: English subtitles must be burnt-in in videotrack.
Feature films for children: Please submit an English dialog list for all non-German language films. 7) Theater release: We only accept films which, at the time of the Festival, have not yet had an official theatrical release in Germany. 8) Running time: We only accept films over 60 minutes in length.
