BILL DOUGLAS AWARD FOR INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM
|
Six loosely thematic programmes of international work, comprising fiction, documentary, animation and experimental/artists’ moving image, compete for the Bill Douglas Award for International Short Film and the International Audience Award. The Bill Douglas Award is presented to the film that in the view of the jury best reflects the qualities found in the work of one of Scotland’s greatest filmmakers: honesty, formal innovation and cinematic storytelling that places sound and image centre stage. The award carries a cash prize.

Requirements: 1) Films completed after: 30 September 2022 2) Maximum duration: 40 minutes 3) Country of production: All except Scotland 4) Screening format: DCP, Digital file 5) Accepted genres: All genres except music videos
Other criteria:
6) Subtitles: If the original language of any dialogue or text featured in the film is not English, the preview and screening copy must be subtitled in English, unless this is at variance with the filmmaker’s intention.

SCOTTISH COMPETITION
|
Four programmes of work produced by Scotland-based filmmakers compete for the Scottish Short Film Award and the Scottish Audience Award. The Scottish Short Film Award honours inspiration and innovation in new Scottish cinema, and carries a cash prize.

Requirements: 1) Films completed after: 30 September 2022 2) Maximum duration: 40 minutes 3) Country of production: Scotland, United Kingdom 4) Screening format: DCP, Digital file 5) Accepted genres: All genres accepted
Other criteria:
6) Definition of a Scottish film: A film is considered eligible for the Scottish competition if at least two of the following key positions - director, writer, producer - are filled by people resident in Scotland. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Festival Director. 7) Subtitles: If the original language of any dialogue or text featured in the film is not English, the preview and screening copy must be subtitled in English, unless this is at variance with the filmmaker’s intention.
